Pickleball Courts at Frank Hall Park

Frank Hall Park in Albert Lea City has six outdoor pickleball courts and can accommodate up to 30 players. In 2014, three tennis courts have been converted to six pickleball courts with permanent nets. Pickleball play is for free and available starting at 8 A.M every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 5 P.M every Tuesday and Thursday. The park has also reserved a 5 P.M timeslot for women’s and couples every Monday. Lights are available from 7:00 P.M to 10:30 P.M.

Frank Hall Park has already hosted a number of pickleball tournaments, including the 2018 Summer Sizzler pickleball tourney last August.

Outdoor courts at Apple Valley Community Center are open to the public and free to use. As for the indoor courts, there’s a drop-in fee of $4 per person and session.

Apple Valley Community Center Adult Open Gym will also hold pickleball clinics and competitive matches for ages 18 and over starting this October 2018 thru May 2019 in the Adult Open Gym. Participants are required to fill out a Participant Registration card, show an ID, and pay the admission fee prior to participation. These activities are for adults and children are not to be in the gym. No food or beverages allowed in the gym (except water). Up-to-Ten Admission punch cards are available for purchase (2018 rates are $35 for Residents and $40 for Non-Residents). Indoor pickleball facilities can be rented. The pickleball courts at Algoma Park are now open to the public and ready for use. The parks and recreation department will host outdoor open pickleball from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the park, 3502 Minnesota Ave. Cost, for the equipment, is $2 per session or $25 for the season. The public is welcome to use the pickleball courts free of charge during regular park hours. If anyone is interested in setting up a pickleball league, contact the Parks and Recreation Department, (218) 333-1850.

Westwood Park Playfield unveiled 12 outdoor pickleball courts to the public last September 9. The city government of Bloomington approved the site plan in 2017 and began the construction of eight permanent and four temporary pickleball courts in early summer of 2018.

Pickleball players nearby Bloomington are encouraged to visit the new facility. Courts at Westwood Park are open to the public and free of charge. Southwest Metro Pickleball Club, which is one of the proponents of the project, plans to hold a number of tournaments in the site.

The Southwest Metro Pickleball Club will start things up with its first annual club tournament on September 22 to September 23 at Westwood Park. Only members of the club are eligible to enter in the tournament, though non-members are still invited to sign-up. The competition is divided by age groups (12-49, 50-59, 60-79 and 70-79+) and skill levels (beginners, intermediate, advanced intermediate, advanced).
