Sessions Are Provided Through Ely Community Education. Winter Session Begins In October. Winter Session Is Played At The Vermilion Community College Gymnasium. 1900 E. Camp St. Locker Rooms Are Available. Summer Sessions Are Played Outdoors At The Ely Memorial Courts. NEW!! Outdoor Courts at Grand Rapids YMCA. There are six new, permanent outdoor courts available dawn to dusk. There is scheduled play and open play. You do not need to be a Y member to play. Balls and paddles available at the Y desk. For Court Rules and Court Schedules go to ymcaitasca.org
There are also 3 courts in the gym. The surface is wood. There is a fee to play if you are not a YMCA member. The courts are available Mon – Sat from 7:30 – 10 AM.
Grussendorf Park has 8 pickleball courts painted on the park’s 2 tennis courts. Portable nets, balls, and paddles are kept in the warming house at the south end of the park. Summer hours begin June 4th: Mon, Wed, and Fri from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Pickleball at Wootton will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on May 15 through September 27. Drop in any time between 4:15 pm to 6:15 pm. The cost is $20 for the season. We supply the equipment.
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.
